It’s amazing how a man can walk into Union Gospel Mission with virtually nothing and almost 4 years later be the owner of a furniture store with TWO locations that continues to give back to the community. As the owner, Jason McSteen’s philosophy is to give back to the community and bring awareness to programs that make a difference in lives.
In November, Jason McSteen gave money to help UGM with their annual Thanksgiving Dinner which serves a hot meal to the less fortunate in our community. During this meal, socks & gloves are available as supply allows. In an effort to bring awareness of the dinner and the need for socks & gloves, Jason & Mike Ellis, social media consultant, held a #CrazyCampout weekend. Throughout these freezing temperatures, an overnight campout and lots of coffee, 16 Cents, 3 Shoes & 5 Socks raised over 1510 PAIRS of socks, 552 gloves, 426 scarves & hats along with coats, blankets and other items needed for the dinner.
The #CrazyCampout was a success! Several women, men & children received gloves, hats, socks and even blankets to help keep them warm during the chilly days (& nights) ahead.
Jason McSteen has walked the streets of our community and is well aware what a clean, dry pair of socks can do for someone with nothing. Jason is reminded every day the road he has traveled.
When you purchase from 16 Cents, 3 Shoes & 5 Socks, your purchase give back to the community every month.
